KAMPALA: Police in Mbarara City have shot and killed a man believed to be the leader of a criminal gang that has been terrorizing parts of Greater Ankole and Kigezi Regions.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesman identified the deceased as Dick Tushemereirwe, a UPDF deserter who was on top Security’s most-wanted list in the area.
He faced multiple charges of murder and aggravated robbery in Mbarara and Rukungiri areas.

“Our men tracked him down and found him in Rugarama. During pursuit he tried to disarm an officer which forced colleagues to put him out of action before he could cause any more harm,” he said.
