President Yoweri Museveni has pledged to upgrade the Isingiro-Rakai road, including the Nakivale route, and to establish a district hospital to improve agricultural and healthcare services in the region.
This announcement was made during a thanksgiving ceremony organized by State Minister Bright Rwamirama in Isingiro district, celebrating his parents’ legacy. Local leaders, including District Chairman Alone Turahi, highlighted the poor condition of the road and called for its tarmacking. They also requested a district hospital to serve the local population of over 800,000, including refugees.
In his speech, Museveni commended the people of Isingiro for their hard work in agriculture, particularly banana production, and assured them that the road would be tarmacked. He also urged local leaders to protect wetlands to ensure sustainable water sources for irrigation.
Rwamirama thanked the president and his family, contributing 10 million shillings to the thanksgiving. Museveni and First Lady Janet donated 50 million shillings to support the church’s activities, with 10 million in cash. The total funds raised, about 120 million shillings, will go toward St. Paul Masha Church of Uganda’s projects
