Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has challenged Deputy President William Ruto to provide evidence to prove claims that chiefs are being used to mobilize for Azimio. Speaking during a security briefing on the elections the CS said that Ruto was risking the lives of chiefs by making unsubstantiated claims.
According to Matiang’i, the claims by Ruto amount to criminal activities adding that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations was documenting the claims for further action. The CS said that it was reckless for Ruto to make the claims of rigging by public servants without even giving details on where this was being done.
Fred Matiang says he is not aware of any discussion that happened at the National Security Council authorizing them to meet chiefs and instruct them to campaign for anyone. if DP Ruto has it, he should provide it to the public.
